Welcome to the online home of the North Sydney Boys' High School Environment Group. Since 2007, we've been promoting the environment within our school and region, and implementing our SEMP. In case you're not sure what a wiki is, this video should help you out. Feel free to have a look around, or even jump in and participate!

GUYS!
THE TIME IS NOW, the earth is calling.
We need to start utilising our time to help sustain not only our environment, but our money, materials and ultimately, our resources. As we stand now, power bills are on the increase and the climate IS changing.
From today, we can all make little changes at school, home and work, to help sustain our way of life, our environment and also our pockets :)

Here are some quick things that we can do (and should know) that would help sustain our very way of living.
1. If not using lights, turn them off!
2. Take showers less than 4 minutes a day - you can do it!
3. Be positive :D
4. If possible, compost all organic material
5. Recycle! Recycle! Recycle! -—> you may not know, but we can recycle so much things our lives. e.g. paper from old exercise books, coke bottles we shared with our dads etc, etc…there is a lot
6. Try and do things on a daily basis. That way over a week, we know that we are definetely achieving progress

Is there anything that I've missed?
I hope everyone is aware of the environment around them, and though we (prefects) have not attended the last few meetings, let's all work hard. We can make a difference with little things

Thanks!
Tim Chau

Project Leaders should email me at moc.liamg|natslauqesocrevonis#moc.liamg|natslauqesocrevonis so that they can add hours.

You must register for an account or you may not add hours.

It seems that the method for putting hours was never posted on the wiki or in minutes so here it is:

Enrichment:

  • Meetings
    • Tuesday and Friday executive/leader meetings do not count but are compulsary for the members
    • Group Meetings
      • 15 minutes per 30 minute block
    • EEC Planning Meetings
      • 1.5 hours regardless of how long the meeting is
  • Research
    • General rule to follow
      • 15 minutes per 30 minute block
    • If the leader feels the person does not deserve the full 15min/30min, then he will inform the person
  • Anything else
    • 15 minutes per 30 minute block

Community Service:

  • Recycling and Biodiversity
    • 1 hour of work = 1 hour of community service
  • Compost
    • 5 times = 30 minutes (6 minutes each time)
  • Everything else
    • 15 minutes per 30 minute block

How to differentiate between enrichment and community service hours:

  • Enrichment: Anything that falls into the 1st phase/planning phase
  • Community Service: Anything that falls into the 2nd phase/action phase
  • If there is anything that does not clearly fall into either, e.g. Filming, Video editing, etc, The person and leader of the project can decide whether to list it as enrichment or community service
