Bottled Water

Group Leaders: Denise Hsueh, Sai Kumaravel, Tracey Liang

This project aims to reduce the school's use and disposal of bottled water/drinks by proposing alternative products.
It has recently been found that Cool Change Water is a big hoax! We have found another alternative, Charlie's Honest Juice. Tracey is investigating the quote price & a proposal is being developed to present to the canteen.

Also there is an idea to promote My Green Bottles, an intiative by Brita, to students. There are thoughts of arranging a crew from Brita to set up a tent at our school where kids can sign the pledge to never buy bottled water again in exchange for a reusable and recyclable Green Bottle. Perhaps this can be implicated earlier next year.

Project Ideas

We were thinking of making a trade with the students, if they give up 5 plastic bottles, and make the pledge to never buy plastic bottles again, we will give them a free my green bottle. I have called Brita and am waiting for a response from the marketing manager. If this does go as planned and we get the green bottles donated from brita, we will recycle all the plastic bottles received in Mr Jones name because he gave the whole screw mount franklin speech (not in those words but..) and maybe the first 20ish?

Students to trade in their 5 plastic bottles will get a tree planted in their name (to be neogatiated with the gardening group) and they can write a message like "green is the way to go! i stopped buying plastic bottles!! :D xx student" and we were thinking of displaying everyones name and signature who signed the pledge on our noticeboard really big, so when people walk past, they'll know who gave up buying plastic bottles, and people who signed the pledge will feel guilty if they ever buy one coz their signature is on the pledge for everyone to see. Also when we hand out the plastic bottles, we were thinking we could have a decorating table next to it so people can personalise their bottle. and no one will get confused who's it is.

GOOD NEWS is Brita is absolutely happy to help us in this intiative. theyll be able to get water tents and the botttles which is reallly exciting!! in hoping the nsbs would be able to join in. all we need to do now is finalise dates, promotion and numbers of bottles. but yep its definitely happening!!
