GUYS!
THE TIME IS NOW, the earth is calling.
We need to start utilising our time to help sustain not only our environment, but our money, materials and ultimately, our resources. As we stand now, power bills are on the increase and the climate IS changing.
From today, we can all make little changes at school, home and work, to help sustain our way of life, our environment and also our pockets :)

Here are some quick things that we can do (and should know) that would help sustain our very way of living.
1. If not using lights, turn them off!
2. Take showers less than 4 minutes a day - you can do it!
3. Be positive :D
4. If possible, compost all organic material
5. Recycle! Recycle! Recycle! -—> you may not know, but we can recycle so much things our lives. e.g. paper from old exercise books, coke bottles we shared with our dads etc, etc…there is a lot
6. Try and do things on a daily basis. That way over a week, we know that we are definetely achieving progress

Is there anything that I've missed?
I hope everyone is aware of the environment around them, and though we (prefects) have not attended the last few meetings, let's all work hard. We can make a difference with little things

Thanks!
Tim Chau

Everyone interested in joining the Logistics Team for the EEC must put their name down on the list in the NSW EEC page.

There will be a compulsory briefing in the near future so be sure to check here every so often and stay in the loop.

On Friday 5th of August, we will begin assigning roles, forming teams for the logistics team and creating rosters. After that it will become more difficult to add or remove members so I strongly suggest you all double check your attendance status.

Best Regards,
Simon and the EEC planners

Carbon Tax Litmus Test

Well, the carbon tax is out- how is it being received?

 <wikidot:authorName>Jonathan Zaharias</wikidot:authorName> <wikidot:authorUserId>340159</wikidot:authorUserId>

The carbon tax scheme was revealed at about midday today (10/7) and already, everyone is putting their ten cents in. On the ABC website, the article explaining the carbon tax was opened up to comments- and was immediately flooded with 210 of them by 2:00 when I started looking through them. I decided to take a tally to determine public opinion. Taking 2:00 as my cut off time, I divided the expressions of opinion into whether they were in favour, or against the scheme. I further divided those against it into those who felt the carbon tax was stupid and shouldn't be there, and those who felt it was weak and inefficient, not going far enough. The results:
37 1/7 % are in favour,
34 2/7 % feel it does not go far enough, and
28 4/7 % think its a load of garbage. It should be noted that, although I didn't tally this, most of the "load of garbage" camp had factual inaccuracies or, failing that, included the word "communist" somewhere. Many also expressed a sentiment brought to infamy when Tony Abbot delivered a speech in front of a sign expressing this. I won't reproduce the vulgarities here, but I will give you a hint: the statement included two prominent political figures as well as a description of a relationship. I'll go no further.

Anyway, this means that 71 3/7 % of the country are in favour of environmental action. Surely this bodes well for the future.

The week runs from Sunday to Saturday and it is requested that they are submitted by Friday or Saturday. If a report hasn't been submitted by the end of Sunday, we will chase it up and it could result in a loss of the leadership position or no recognition for hours the members put in unless an appropriate excuse is given. We ask that you tell us early as possible as this makes it easier for the project managers as well as Oliver who has to enter all the information into the database.

Example of a Project Report

Project Name: EnviroInspiro!
Project Leader: Nirvan and Raymond (Co-leader)
Week: 7B, Term 1
Summary: Discussion of what we could do as our video.
