Page creation and editing tips
It may not be immediately obvious to some of you exactly how we want pages to be formatted and what details we want so here's some tips:
- add tags to every page you create — that is, key words that could be used to group the page. There's a tag cloud on the sidebar where you can see which tags are popular and you can show a list of only recycling related pages, for instance.
- You can view the history of each page in order to compare your changes to a past version or to revert after a bad change has been made
- If you change someone else's page or make a big change to your own page, please leave a note explaining why you did this. If further complications arise, you can discuss the page itself in the page discussion (link at the bottom of each page). However please take all other discussions to the forums.
- There is a dedicated heading feature:
+ big heading
++ subheading
etc…
- Please do not try and use your own formatting for headings because if we change the site theme it will not match.
- When you finish working on a page, click "save" instead of "save and continue", or else the page will remain locked and no-one else will be able to edit it while your edit is active.
- If you need help with formatting and layout, this page will help you. I have also prepared a test page for some of the more difficult features you may want on a page. (here)
